Daveste' Vineyards

Daveste’ Vineyards is proud to be the first winery in Iredell County, North Carolina. We're conveniently located about 35 miles north of Charlotte, NC and near the intersection of I-40 and I-77. Our winery annually produces 1,000 cases of wine, including both dry and semi-sweet red and white wines. While offering some traditional favorites like Merlot and Chardonnay, wine lovers are enjoying our Chambourcin and Viognier. And some of our wines are further distinguished by being produced from varietals rarely grown in North Carolina, including Malbec and Rkatsiteli.
Daveste’ Vineyards' vision is to offer preferred premium wines to wine enthusiasts from around the world. You'll find our pastoral setting is an inviting backdrop for respite from a busy day or travel schedule. Our rustic, timber frame-style tasting room and art gallery featuring North Carolina artists is open year-round. We invite you to visit us soon to enjoy the company of good friends, friendly staff, fine art and, of course, quality wines. Our tasting room and grounds are available for special events.
At Daveste’ Vineyards, we take a minimalist approach in winemaking. Our fruit comes from our own carefully tended estate vineyard and other select North Carolina vineyards; the remainder comes from reputable Virginia vineyards. We aim to gently handle the fruit at harvest and allow our wines to age and mature with limited interference. Our wines are developed in very small lots, with some estate wines totaling as few as 25 cases, and total production currently limited to 1,000 cases per year. Typically, our white wines are produced 100% in stainless steel. And our red wines, depending on the variety, are blended from lots that have been aged in both new and neutral French oak.
Jason Wiseman, winemaker, has a passion and desire to make great wines in his native state. With 17 years of wine industry experience, Jason is a formally trained winemaker. He gained hands-on experience while working in California’s Napa Valley at Duckhorn Vineyards and Monticello Vineyards. He has also worked with some of North Carolina’s best wineries including Brushy Mountain Winery, McRitchie Winery and Ciderworks and Shelton Vineyards. Realizing the potential of North Carolina’s growing wine industry, Jason's goal is to continue the tradition of fine winemaking at Daveste´ Vineyards.
Owner Dave DeFehr in 2003 envisioned planting a vineyard and bringing the first winery to Iredell County. After locating an ideal 52-acre pastoral setting, the land was manicured to enhance its natural features and four acres of vines were planted in 2005. A modern, three-level “barn” was constructed to include a small winery. We took our first harvest in 2006 and produced 500 cases of wine. We doubled production to 1000 cases with the 2007 harvest. In September 2008 we modified our harvest crush operations with "gravity-enabled" processing. And on September 3 we joyfully opened the doors of our rustic timber frame-style tasting room and art gallery to the public!
